Continuing Care Neighborhood at Oak Crest Attains 5-Star Rating from Federal Agency
PARKVILLE, MD—The Continuing Care Neighborhood at Oak Crest retirement community attained the maximum score in the Five-Star Quality Rating System administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
The Erickson Living community earned a 5-star rating in the Overall Quality category, updated in August, 2012.
CMS created the Five-Star Quality Rating System to assist consumers, their families and caregivers to compare the nation’s 17,000 nursing homes that are certified by Medicare or Medicaid. The quality system assigns each nursing home a ranking of 1 through 5 stars, with a 5-star rating indicating a “much above average quality” level of care.
Matt Rosewag is the Director of Extended Care at Oak Crest. He says the 5-star rating is a “testament to the professionalism and compassion of our 450 employees. Every day, they live our mission of celebrating life and contributing to a caring environment for our residents.”
“We are proud of the high clinical measures and outcomes that are scored in this CMS evaluation,” stated Mr. Rosewag. “The rankings are an invaluable tool for consumers and caregivers, and we would invite them to visit Oak Crest to see our infrastructure model that enhances person-centered care.”
Three sub-categories determine the Overall Quality score: (1) Health Inspections: rating with information from the last three years of on-site inspections, (2) Staffing: rating with information about the number of hours of care on average to each resident each day by nursing staff, and (3) Quality Measures: rating with information on nine physical and clinical measures.
Oak Crest provides a full continuum of care, featuring 1,525 residences in independent living that offer a variety of one and two bedroom floor plans and pricing options. The Continuing Care neighborhood offers skilled nursing, assisted living, post-acute rehabilitation and memory-care services.
