St. Michael's Overlea Scout Leader Gets Catholic Award
Congratulations to Mrs. Kim Eberwein of St. Michael the Archangel Parish, Overlea who received the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal in Scouting on March 4, 2012 from Bishop Mitchell T. Rozanski at St. Casimir Roman Catholic Church.
Kim is troop leader of Troop 590 (Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors) and Troop 806 (Brownies). She is also the Kindergarten Teacher here at St. Michael School. Kim has been an active Girl Scout Leader for over seven years. She has worked with the parish’s Vacation Bible School since its beginning. She has facilitated the Catholic Religious Emblems Program to her Troops here at St. Michael the Archangel Church. She has also helped promote the annual Scout Mass at St. Michael’s.
As Girl Scout leader, Kim has taken her troop on many camping trips, inviting the Brownies to do bridging activities with the older scouts. Kim has served as cookie mom and organized service projects for Sarah’s Hope. As Council Delegate for SU 86, she served two years organizing for her community. She also started a new Brownie Troop 4161 at Queen of Peace in 2005 where she was a leader for two years.
At St. Michael, Overlea, Kim was a troop leader for Brownie Troop 806 (2007-2009), a Daisy leader of Troop 620 (2008-2010). Now she is the troop leader for Troop 590 as well as projects leader for her Junior scouts.
Kim with her husband and their three kids are active in the youth development programs in their community serving in the choir and sports activities. Kim is an accomplished wife, mother, homemaker, sports mom, and teacher of Kindergarten. For her enthusiasm, dedication to the Girl Scout ideals and her willingness to help the youth where ever needed, it is the recommendation on behalf of The National Catholic Committee on Scouting, and the Archdiocese of Baltimore Catholic Committee on Scouting that Kim Eberwein was presented with this St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal.
