Over 100 students from the school participated in the weeklong drive by collecting aluminum cans, glue sticks, batteries, writing tools and plastic bags from their neighbors.
In all, Villa Cresta Green Team advisor Stephanie Foy said that students managed to collect:
- 1,008 aluminum cans
- 217 glue sticks
- 143 writing tools (no crayons or wooden pencils)
- 1,704 batteries
- 1,058 plastic bags
"We made a difference. Villa Cresta is helping to save our Earth," Foy wrote in an email.
The Green Team, which was founded in the 2010-2011 school year, is made up of about 30 third-, fourth- and fifth-graders at the Parkville school.
