Baltimore Metro Tweets Sorrow Over Connecticut Shooting

Local residents respond via social media to the tragic school shooting in Newton, CT.

(UPDATED) 5:48 p.m.—Baltimore metro area residents and leaders are sharing their sorrow and sympathy with residents of Newtown, CT where a gunman went on a rampage at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

According to Newtown Patch, 27 people were killed—18 of them children—at the school on Friday.

Newtown Patch is reporting the identification in the shooter is currently being withheld by law enforcement following the possible mis-identification of a shooter earlier in the day.

In the wake of the tragedy Baltimore County police have stepped up patrols at local schools.

The shooting in Newtown comes after a shooting at Perry Hall High School in August. One students was critically injured in that attack, but survived his wounds.

We need a president who will work on changing the CULTURE of our country. Stop the violent music, make family a priority,....how about tax breaks to help moms stay at home with their kids!!!

I agree fully. Our society is so fragmented. And desensitized by the premiscuous trends such as abortion. We raise our children in such an environment and then expect them to do better. Sometimes it doesn't work out that way. So sad. A tremendous loss of innocent youngsters.

Love is a factor that has been absent in the home. Children witness a lot of activity which does not display LOVE. Charity starts at home and then into our communities, and it must be taught. I am sadden by such hatred and if we all do our part as parents to display love at ALL times then our children will not have any other alternative.
