Bar Scheduled For Liquor Board Hearing In Wake Of Murders

TeeBee's Bar & Lounge is scheduled to go before the Baltimore County Liquor Board early next month.

Following a pair of murders, a Parkville bar is scheduled for a hearing before the Baltimore County Liquor Board early next month.

TeeBee's Bar & Lounge will go before the board 2 p.m. Oct. 1 to show why the bar's liquor license should not be suspended, officials confirmed Monday afternoon.

Two people, including a security guard, were murdered at the bar within two months.

Back in July, a Baltimore City man was found shot multiple times in the bar's parking lot. Thus far, no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Earlier this month 38-year-old Tavares Lonell Jones, who was working as a security guard at the bar, was stabbed to death when he attempted to break up a fight.

A Baltimore City man was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Jones' death.

After the September murder, a member of the Harford Park Community Association said the bar had been a perennial issue for the neighborhood going back to 2006.

In a letter dated Sept. 17, Fifth District Councilman David Marks wrote to Liquor Board chairman Charles Klein in support of sanctions against the bar, including suspension of the license.

"I am writing to support the Parkville community, which I represent, as they seek measures against TeeBee's Place," Marks wrote. "Problems with this bar have occurred over many years ...  the owners have had plenty of time to implement the improvements that could have restored security and order to this establishment. I agree with residents that [the board] should send a signal that the behavior at Tee Bee’s Place will not be tolerated in Baltimore County."

On one of the local TV stations, a neighbor said they are starting a petition to close Tee Bee's down. I hope someone notifies the Patch where citizens can sign this petition.

I've written multiple letters to the liquor board since 2007. I live right up the street and its incredibly frustrating that this place is still open. if there is a petition I will happily sign !!

Praise to Councilman Marks for finally doing something about this! This is an awful establishment and it's a shame that it's right next to the park where families take their children to play. I'm sure the drug paraphanillia and used condoms that are often laying around the park are somewhat related to TeeBee's place.

Doesn't this make you wonder if the problem is the bar or the patrons it attracts ? Does shutting the place down really solve be problem? Won't another establishment open in its place and attract the same patrons? Why not have the community work with the current owner who had previously worked with the community to solve the problems?

This isn't the 1st time this business has had problems. Why does Tee Bee's have problems whereas other bars are crime free. Is the clientele that frequents this bar the problem? If so, remove them immediately when they start fighting verbally or physically. This bar would get the reputation that the owners won't put up with bulls**t. It will keep away the troublemakers and it could be a nice place for both white and black patrons.
