UMD Police Trainee Shot During Owings Mills Exercise
A police trainee was shot during a training exercise in Owings Mills Tuesday afternoon.
A University of Maryland police trainee was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma after being shot during a training exercise Tuesday afternoon, police confirmed.
Baltimore City Police have a training facility on Rosewood Lane in Owings Mills, but Detective Angela Carter-Watson, a police spokeswoman, could only confirm that the incident occurred in Owings Mills at 2:36 p.m. ABC2 News reported that the incident happened at the Rosewood Center on Rosewood Lane.
At 3 p.m., Carter-Watson said the trainee was being transported by medevac to Maryland Shock Trauma. The nature of the injuries was still under investigation, she said.
Editor's note: Due to a source error, the story orginally reported that the wounded officer was a Baltimore Police trainee.

Baltimore City Police: can't drive, can't shoot straight, corrupt, out of shape, lazy, etc.

To the moderator, please delete the comments of M. Sullivan and Sanchez. They are heartless and inappropriate given that the person accidentally shot may be fighting for their life.

Don't be so insensitive toward others. Because someone makes a comment you don;t like is no reason to whine. One does not have to sooth your sensibilities as rule. I do hope the victim is well and any comment of mine does not diminish that fact. It does not always have to be said.

Mr Frisch, have you read the latest news on this case? How far off was my comment now in hindsight? It was wholly appropriate given today's news.

Training of this nature should be far safer than real police work...kinda odd..

Are they supposed to use live rounds during training exercises? Seems absurd to me. I hope for the best for the trainee.

"Support Growing For Former L.A. Officer Accused Of Killing Spree
SACRAMENTO (CBS13) – Christopher Dorner, the ex-LAPD officer accused of three revenge killings and the focus of an extensive manhunt, left behind a long manifesto outlining all of his grievances and observations.
CBS13 posted a simple question: Why? Why support a man wanted for at least three killings and the author of a murderous manifesto promising to target cops?
One sympathizer replied, “Because something needs to be done about the long known corruption of not only the LAPD, but several agencies.” "

Mr Frisch, I am sorry I offended you. Do you see what is on these pages?
I am offended every day reading these pages and news from around the world. See the above? Go read what what was said on the web about the Pope retiring. Are you offended?

Mr Frisch, I found the comment below as offensive as you did mine.
Being falsely lumped into a group that would include a mass murderer is vile and as offensive as it gets. Oh well. This is the internet. Here is the comment. As if anyone could support a known killer and wanted man the right to buy firearms.
"Mobster Whitey Bulger bought 10 pistols and a shotgun using the Gun Show loophole while he was on the run.

How in the world can a person on the FBI's Most Wanted list do this? Why don't the Gun Nutters have a problem with this?"

It was actually a UMD cop that was shot.

I've made the correction. I was told it was a city police trainee at first.

Everybody was told that at first. It turns out he was shot by a BPD instructor.

But, of course, only police and military should have firearms!

Anyone who doesn't think citizens should have firearms needs to take a walk around Greenmount Ave in Baltimore at night. Alone.
