Three local businesses were recently named among the Best in Baltimore by the Baltimore Citypaper.

The most recent issue of the alternative weekly publication gave accolades to Parkville-area businesses for offering the best doughnuts, best Indian food, best "sexy workout" and being the best comic book shop for an expert.

• Best Doughnut: The Fractured Prune Doughnut Shoppe — "Taking indulgence to a whole new level, the Fractured Prune on Harford Road defies traditional doughnut convention with its made-to-order circular sweets."
• Best Indian: Pavan Foods — "When a place like Pavan Foods opens in a city like New York or Los Angeles, it takes about two weeks before it’s overrun by hipster foodies in search of the next great hole-in-the-wall monument to authentic ethnic cuisine. But lucky for us, we’re in Baltimore, so Pavan Foods has remained under the radar for years even though it serves some of the city’s best (and cheapest) all-vegetarian Indian food."
