Community Fundraiser for Fiftieth Fullerton Fireworks
The 4th of July fireworks celebration has been a draw for northeast Baltimore County since 1962.
The Fullerton Fireworks committee needs the community's help to make sure that the fiftieth anniversary of the Independence Day celebration goes off without a hitch.
To ensure that the fireworks will go off over Fullerton field, they need to raise $35,000 each year, according to a newsletter sent by Overlea-Fullerton Business Professional Association president and Fullerton Fireworks volunteer Donna Bethke. This year they're still almost $17,000 short—a problem they hope to solve through their "One Big Community Fundraiser" night at Skipjack's on Belair Road.
"The Fireworks at Fullerton Field is steeped in tradition, and families from all of our Northeast communities attend. It’s a fun day, a family day, and most of all it brings community spirit and sense of pride to all who attend. It is one of the largest community events of the year," Bethke said in a statement.
The fundraiser will be held on June 21 at Skipjack's, feature a Chinese auction, karaoke and live music with DJ Jack "The Jam Man" Ryan and dinner specials.

A challenge issued-
My dad and I worked the 1st 4th of July at Fullerton park and we went around with cans to collect coins and some dollars for the 2nd one. It worked, but yes, things were much cheaper then.. But If each family watching this years event would put just $2 in a can -wow-that would cut the deficit --- they already spend $5-10 on ice cream and sno-balls anyway

Very well put Homer. My wife and myself raised our family in Fullerton and every year she would take them to see the fireworks. It is a spectacular community event and spectators should be willing to donate a couple of dollars towards the expense of putting it on.
