Dominick's Ready to Bring Pizza to Parkville

The Parkville pizzeria, closed after a fire in June, reopened Thursday morning.

A sign in the window of the Harford Road business reads "Hooray! Hooray! Today's the day!! Dominick's of Parkville is Re-Open!"

The Harford Road pizza shop re-opened its doors at 11 a.m. Thursday morning and orders have been coming in ever since.

The pizza and sub shop shut it's doors after a fire tore through the building back in June, causing owners Larry Parks and Bob Plante to completely remodel the store's interior.

"The floorplan is the same but everything's brand new—we redid everything," Parks said.

Dominick's has been a fixture in Parkville since it first opened in 1963; Parks and Plante are the businesses' fourth owners and both have worked there for more than 20 years. The recent closure marks the first time in Parks' history with the eatery that it's been closed for any extended period of time.

"About eight and a half years ago, we had a deep fryer explode and that caused some damage but we were only closed for a day and a half," Parks said.

Pretty much everyone working at the shop before the fire still has a job there, according to Parks.

"We were actually able to keep everyone employed while we were closed through our Perry Hall store," Parks said.

The Perry Hall location of Dominick's, on Belair Road, fielded orders for the Parkville area while the Harford Road location was closed.

Customer Nancy Ubert, a Parkville High School employee, stopped by Dominick's to pick up a pizza after work on Thursday.

"This is the best pizza in Parkville, and you can quote me on that," she said.

That enthusiasm is something Parks loves to hear.

"That's one thing—Parkville is definitely a community-based area. Through this fire we really found out how loyal Parkville people are to local business," Parks said.

I had it last night! Yay for Dominick's pick up deal!!! PS- I live 2 blocks from the Parkville store so driving to Perry Hall to pick them up wasn't a viable.option. Perry Hall delivered to me quite often though. :)
