After talking to our children all year about being safe and not talking to strangers, there's one day each year we send them out onto the streets and tell them to knock on strangers' doors.
Halloween is upon us, and Patch wants to help everyone stay safe.
So we've created this map of Parkville-Overlea's registered sex offenders, so you can choose whose door to knock on and whose not to — especially if your family is trick-or-treating in a new neighborhood, with friends or at Grandma's.
"Baltimore County Police will be watching select registered sex offenders in Baltimore County this Halloween night to ensure that they are compliant with their probation requirement of 'no contact' with children. This surveillance will be conducted at specific residences," according to a press release from the Baltimore County Police Department.
To check out your neighborhood, zoom in or out of the map above. Click on a flag to get specific addresses or consult the list below the map by scrolling on the right-hand side of the map.
To find out more information about the people listed here, and to see photos, search the State list of sex offenders.

Jill: I thought the same thing. I pulled the addresses out of the state sex offender registry which you can find here: http://www.dpscs.state.md.us/sorSearch/search.do

There is also a registered sex offender that lives on Manns Ave., which runs alongside St. Ursula's Catholic School and dead-ends at Parkville High's baseball field. How is that okay??

Hello everybody. I wanted to let you know I have sponsored legislation to keep registered sex offenders from living closer than 2,000 feet from schools, playgrounds and other places where children congregate. Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful in getting the bills passed due to questions of the legislation's constitutionality. I will keep trying however, as I feel this is a very important issue.
