A photo of the 1970 Parkville High School thespian club is just one of the highlights of the "You Know You're From Parkville, MD When.." Facebook group.

The group, which has more than 1,000 members, is a place where Parkville residents and people who grew up in the neighborhood can discuss issues both past and current.

A quick glance around the page reveals users like Cindy Bova Giese, asking if anyone performed in "South Pacific" — a play at Parkville High School she thought took place in 1975.

Other users respond that they did or didn't — maybe they remember a classmate who did.

There you'll find photos of Perring Plaza as it was being developed; view show posters for Club Venus—a spot in Perring Plaza where David Ruffin of the Temptations performed back in April 1970; and read former Parkville High students reminiscing about favorite teachers.

But it's not all just happy memories.

Plenty of current Parkville residents are discussing hot topics like actions by 8th District Del. Joe Boteler, inflated water bills, and the tragic recent death of former Carney Elementary School teacher and Army guardsman Maj. Robert Marchanti.
