Police in Weatherford, Oklahoma found homicide suspect Matthew Long last week because he didn't check out of his hotel on time.

According to a report in The Baltimore Sun, on Tuesday, an employee at a hotel called Weatherford police, who found the Pikesville resident "unresponsive."

He had taken prescription medication and had been on his way to California, the report states.

Long, who had lived with his grandparents in their Sudbrook Park home, was missing Sept. 10 when police found his grandparents, Vaughn and Marjorie Pepper, dead, and with traumatic wounds.

Baltimore County police homicide detectives said the Peppers may have been dead since Saturday.

A neighbor said it was strange that Long was missing, since he had not seen Long leave the house without the Peppers before.

After Vaughn and Marjorie Peppers' bodies were found, Baltimore County police said they were looking for Long for questioning.

After he was located, hospitalized in Oklahoma, they announced he is a suspect.

County homicide detectives went to Oklahoma to continue their investigation.

The Peppers' funeral and burial were held Friday in Secretary, Dorchester County.

A homemade cross that states "Remembering Our Neighbors" and flowers have been set in a tree stump in their front yard at 800 Olmstead Road.
