Increased crime in Parkville has me seriously considering whether or not I should move out of the neighborhood. I hate to leave my house. Been there 20 years.

You and your neighbors have to be nosy neighbors. Call the police if anything looks suspicious. Oakleigh and Darlington has been a known drug area. Just be vigilant and if anything looks suspicious, call the police. Let them check it out.

If you move out you will only add to the problem. We need to stand our ground and not let our neighborhood fall by the wayside. Besides I wouldn't consider Darlington Dr as Parkville, that's more like Hillendale/Hillsway

Buy a gun. Learn to handle it safely. Go to the range and learn how to shoot. Then carry the gun with you at all times!

I left parkville. In fact I left the state. The crime drugs and pathetic excuse for schools was enough for me. As for the gun comment that's great but open carry is illegal in md and good luck getting a concealed permit. I carry every where I go in Virginia and I don't have to ever worry about getting arrested for it. Parkville will never be what it used to be. I wasted 20+ years hoping.

Maryland is ranked #1 in the country as far as school systems are concerned. You moved to a place where you feel the need to carry gun everywhere you go. Sounds like you are moving backwards.

No my friend. Check your info. I moved to a place that allows you to carry a gun as long as you're not a felon. See that's part of what keeps the robberies and burglar rates down where I am. Backwards I am not. Maryland could learn alot from some of its neighbors. And the schools my children attended there are definately sub par compared to the schools they attend now. And yes it is public education. Check where your reports came from because there is no way they should be ranked high much less highest in the country

They had to lower the standards if Maryland is considered #1 school system in the country. Look at the community colleges. Most entering students have to take remedial courses in reading, english and math. I think Prince Georges, Howard, and Carroll counties account for this rating. I seriously doubt if Baltimore City and low income parts of Baltimore County contributed to this rating.

Absolutely. I was completely disappointed in the education my children were getting in Baltimore county. Completely different world here. And yes it could be better but I am glad to know my children are getting better then what Baltimore county and parkville were offering.

I didn't think that the Parkville would be a dangerous place to live.
Maybe there should be more citizens on patrol to help out our police dept.
I can't afford to move.

I grew up in Parkville (actually Hillendale) and I am now raising my children in Parkville; I love living in this area, you have crime no matter where you go.

And keeping your children in an area where drugs and violence are right outside your front door is only increasing the chance for them to get involved in it. You're a fool to continue subjecting them to that. It will only continue to get worse. I refuse to put my kids in that position. Yes it's everywhere but that area is a pit for lowlifes addicts and criminals. They flock to parkville like its safe haven.

Ever since "move to opportunity" where low income people can move anywhere, crime has spiked. How can you take an inner city family and move that family among homeowners. It doesn't work. Half of them don't know how to keep a home, their children are disrespectful and my former "inner city" neighbors play their music so loud it will probably make them deaf! They never owned a home and only bring down our home values. This social program isn't working. I hope Section 8 goes bankrupt!!
