Middle River Girl Seriously Injured In Parkville Crash

The collision occurred Sunday afternoon, police said.

A 17-year-old Middle River girl was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries following a Sunday afternoon crash.

Police said the girl, identified as 17-year-old Kelsey Jordan Schanberger, of the 2000 block of Oakland Road, was pinned between two vehicles while examining the damage caused to her 2008 Ford Escape in an earlier collision.

Schanberger had been waiting at a traffic signal in the left turn lane of southbound Perring Parkway at Putty Hill Avenue when her vehicle was struck from the rear, police said.

The girl got out of her vehicle to check the damage caused by the 1999 Volkswagen Golf driven by 39-year-old Reisterstown woman, Tracey Ann Carter.

A third vehicle, a 2001 Honda Civic driven by a 23-year-old Charles Village woman, was also headed southbound on Perring Parkway, police said. Its driver, Supriya Nair, noticed Carter's vehicle partially in her lane and applied the brakes, but began to slide, eventually rear-ending Carter's vehicle and pinning Schanberger between the front of the Volkswagen Golf and the rear of her own Ford Escape, police said.

The accident remains under investigation and charges are pending, police said.
