Parkville-Carney Relay for Life Announced

The American Cancer Society recently announced the date, time and location for Parkville-Carney's inaugural Relay for Life.

Back in February Patch brought you the news that the American Cancer Society decided to host a Relay for Life for the Parkville-Carney Community.

At the time, few details were available about the program. Recently though, the nonprofit announced the dates and times for its latest fundraiser.

Parkville-Carney's Relay for Life will be held from 2 from 11 p.m. June 30 at the Parkville Armory, 3727 Putty Hill Avenue, ACS spokeswoman Katie Weber said.

If you're interested in participating you can sign up on the Parkville-Carney Relay for Life page for just $10 — members of the community have already raised $110.

Relay for Life, a team fundraising event for the American Cancer Society, has been held in neighboring communities like Essex, Perry Hall, Dundalk and Towson for many years but this will be the first year that an event is held in Parkville.

"This appealed to me as an area of the county that had a very strong sense of community," Weber told Patch back in February. "People had a sense of being from here — you have your amazing rec center, you’ve got every chain store you could want and strong, independent, locally-owned small businesses community."

Will you participate in the Parkville-Carney community Relay for Life? Are you excited that Relay for Life will be happening in your neighborhood? Tell us in the comments.

That's awesome news! My question is. . . how well did Loch Raven High School's Relay for Life do? I think it was held over the weekend?

Hi Margaret, Relay For Life is an overnight family-friendly event from the American Cancer Society to celebrate cancer survivors and remember those lost to the disease. Relay For Life symbolizes the hope we have for celebrating more birthdays and saving more lives from cancer. Thanks!
