Parkville Shopping Center Renovation Under Way
Work began on restoring the 51-year-old center early last week.
If you stop by Parkville Shopping Center you'll probably notice that some of the retailers' signs have been replaced by banners, while the pillars that stood around the walkways have been removed leaving just bare support beams.
Inside many of the shops, you'll find fliers like the one attached to this article—they were placed there by property management company Regency Centers and invite you to share your ideas for the renovation of the 51-year-old center on the web.
The site explains that after upgrading the center merchants by bringing in Giant Foods, the company has decided to invest in the center by upgrading the facade, parking and signage.
Currently there are two vacancies in the shopping center—one is a 5,600 square foot space, the other is 4,600 square feet.
A representative of Regency Centers could not be reached to comment on the cost or duration of the project.
What do you think of the idea of upgrading Parkville Shopping Center? Do you shop there often? Tell us in the comments.

Thank you Regency Centers for upgrading this shopping center. It is a great local shopping center that most people feel safe shopping at. I hope it continues as a wonderful local shopping place. Needs a great coffee shop with bakery items along with outdoor seating.

Parkvillehoney,
You should check out Cafe Euro. It's already in the shopping center and they provide both coffee and baked goods. :)

Also, they have outdoor seating. And as a bonus you're very likely to find me there.

I didn't realize it was a bake shop. I will be going there this week for coffee and sweets. Thank you so much for the tip!

I grew up on Lavender ave. and remember my dad taking me and my younger brother(Randy Smith) to climb on the huge piles of dirt when they first broke ground for that shopping center.I recently moved back to Parkville and shop there all the time.

The flowers and plantings outside of the Giant are lovely. Anytime you add trees, plants, flowers, or greenery any area begins to look brighter, more inviting and more upscale. Just ride down some of the streets in the city or county and you'll notice the ones with the most trees and greenery seem more inviting.

Cracker Barrel only builds restaurants on or directly off of interstate highways, but I love them too!

We need something to remain consistent in that space that has been about 3 or 4 different bar/restaurants since I moved onto Lavender 2 years ago.

Toy-It is a great place just to park & stroll & not have to cross the street. I do miss Good things cheap & the Linen store.

They should do something about all the drunks loitering around the corner from Giant by the liquor store.

The parking and flow of traffic needs to be addressed. when you drive in from Harford Road it's like a 5 way intersection. maybe some medians with trees to guide traffic safely.
