Police Identify Man Killed in Beltway Crash Near Overlea

Two other passengers of a white Ford Crown Victoria were transported to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Darreck Thomas Hodge, of Baltimore, was killed as he tried to change the tire of his vehicle, which was disabled on the right shoulder of I-695 near Belair Road around 5:16 a.m. Feb. 21, according to a press release from the Maryland State Police.

A green 2013 International tractor trailer struck Hodge and his 1999 Ford Crown Victoria, the release states. Hodge was pronounced dead on the scene.

Two other passengers inside the Ford were injured in the collision: a 17-year-old female was transported to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, and a 1-year-old infant was ejected from the vehicle in the accident and transported to Johns Hopkins Hospital, the release states.

Both passengers suffered non-life-threatening injuries, officals stated in a release.

Charges have not yet been filed, but police have identified the driver of the tractor trailer as Timothy Earl Chandler.
