Police Identify Middle River Man Struck by MARC Train
Robert Ey, 26, of the 900 block of Middlesex Road, was struck and killed by the train May 1.
Baltimore County police said Robert Ey, of the 900 block of Middlesex Road, was walking south on the tracks around 7:15 a.m. when a train traveling about 100 mph hit him near Northeast Creek Road and Schaefer Lane in Rosedale.
According to a police news release, investigators ruled Ey's death an accident. The accident caused delays for commuters, who had to be transferred to another train.
Many passengers described the moments after the accident to Patch through interviews, emails and blog posts.
Ey's death represents at least the third person killed on the tracks in eastern Baltimore County since January 2010. Amtrak recently completed a $3.1 million security upgrade along a 6,400-foot span of tracks in Middle River, although the scene of the most recent accident was not a part of those improvements.
