Police Search Fullerton For Alleged KMart Shoplifters

Using a helicopter police located one of the suspects Monday night, but he was released without being charged.

Police had to use a helicopter, dogs and patrol units in an attempt to locate two suspects who allegedly stole from an area KMart and assaulted a member of store security Monday night.

The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. March 4, according to police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathleen Batton. Police responded to the KMart in the 7900 block of Belair Road for a report of a shoplifting and assault, she said.

"There were two suspects," Batton said. "One of the suspects assaulted a loss prevention worker there. She did not require medical treatment."

One of the suspects was later located by police near the intersection of Linhigh and Henry Avenues, according to Batton. That person was released without being charged.

The second suspect, who police said shoplifted DVDs from the KMart store and assaulted the loss prevention officer, has not been located, according to Batton.

The investigation is ongoing.

Your thoughts are whats wrong with the ability to fight crime...one of the employees was assaulted and is still on the run, would you feel the same if it was a member of your family that was assaulted?

Exactly -- someone was assaulted. It's one thing to heist merchandise but when people are involved, they'd better do something about it otherwise having a police force at all is, as you say "waste of money." This area is going to crap.

One suspect was caught but released without being charged? Sounds fishy to me.

Heaven forbid they release a description and violate someone's civil rights or feelings. I'd like to know who to look for.
