VIDEO: How To Eat Maryland Crabs
Patch headed to Ocean Pride seafood in Lutherville for a delicious dozen.
Well, everybody, it’s summertime, and here in Maryland you know what that means—crab season.
Whether you’re new to the area or are a longtime crab connoisseur like me, it’s time to grab your mallets and dive into some tasty crustaceans. That’s why we here at Patch thought we should do our part to aid you in your crab cleaning adventures with a little instructional video on the art (yes, it is an art) of picking crabs.
For our demonstration we could think of no better location than Lutherville’s own Ocean Pride Seafood. We reviewed Ocean Pride during the off-season in January and we were so impressed with the food we knew that come crab season, we had to make a return visit.
Let me tell you, I’m glad we did—the crabs were tasty, perfectly cooked, and most importantly, extremely full.
I am a fourth-generation crab picker. In fact, my great-grandfather was Joseph Obrycki, one of the founders of the famous Obrycki’s restaurant in Baltimore, so I know my way around a crab.
For those of you who are new to crab picking, we hope this video will make your inaugural pick a successful one. And for those of you who have been picking for years, well, hopefully you can pick up a trick or two as well. Either way, I bet the video will get your crab appetite pumping, and when the craving finally takes over, make sure you head to Ocean Pride.
