Do you remember this shop, located in the greater Parkville-Overlea area?

Hopping into the Parkville-Overlea wayback machine takes us to an area shopping center and the shop that used to anchor it.

This photograph, posted to the Facebook group "You Know You're From Parkville, Md When..." by Joseph E. Smith, shows the old Korvette's store in a shopping center you might have gone to regularly.

Do you know where the store was located?

Share your best guess and your memories of Korvette's in the comments here on Patch.

I knew exactly where the store was located, as I went there a lot, but I had no idea about where its name came from. Thanks for the info!

I worked at Korvettes the day they opened until the day they closed. Actually, the name was said to mean Eight Jewish Korean Veterans but that was a myth. The name had something to do with the owners names.

From Wikipedia: According to Korvette's founder, Eugene Ferkauf, who died on June 5th, 2012, the name "E.J. Korvette" was coined as a combination of the initials of its founders (Eugene and Joe) and a re-spelling of the naval term corvette, a nimble sailing warship and later World War II sub-destroyer. Ferkauf's claim and the name pre-dating the Korean War by three years contradict an urban legend it was an acronym for "Eight (or Eleven) Jewish Korean War Veterans".

I bought my first record albums from Korvettes! And I loved when they sold coddies outside the door!

My Dad, Don Frazier worked there for years! He was the Manager of the hardware dept. I have great memories of this place, everything in our house came from Korvette's from our clothes to our furniture to the pool in our yard, those were the days for sure!!!

I remember shopping there with my parents when I was probably 4 years old. My brothers bought all their early MatchBox cars there. They also had an outdoor section with lots of swimming pools.
