A chain link fence surrounds the former Giant Food store in the shopping center across Joppa Road from Jerry's Chevrolet—it's been vacant since Giant pulled out of the location over four years ago.

The building, located at 1925 E. Joppa Road and managed by KLNB, is the anchor for the Joppa Heights shopping center, which is completely vacant save for two fast-food restaurants: Burger King and Checkers.

The 39,375 square foot building can be subdivided to accomodate more than one business, according to the realtor's website.

In last week's edition of Visions for Vacancies we generated some great ideas for the former Schaefer & Strominger dealership on Belair Road in Fullerton: you told us that location would be great for a Sonic Drive-In, a Panera, or a Trader Joe's.

This week let's do the same—get creative and share your great ideas for developing this underutilized shopping center.

What business would have to come to Joppa Heights shopping center to renew interest in the unused space?   What would you like to see this lot developed into? Tell us in the comments.

Kohl's would be great to have in Parkville. Or, World Market/Cost Plus would be nice!

Parkville-Overlea Patch Facebook fans are talking about this location too.

At least two agree that a Kohl's would be good for the community.

One user suggested that it should be a skate park for kids.

Keep adding your great ideas.

I would like to see a nice banquet facility like a Martin's Valley Mansion. That company makes ALOT of money. That would be Great revenue for the county and a great way to provide jobs & skills for our residents.

There are enough grocery stores in the area, no Wegmans is needed.

It would actually be nice to have a skating rink, or a roller rink, or even some sort of lazer tag / mini golf / rock climbing facility (similar to Sports, the recreational place up in Timonium in the late 90's).

I remember that place, used to take teens from the youth group there. Lots of fun.

I would like to see a recreation facility and green space, the area is congested with stores, shops, car dealers, eateries.... there is already a checkers and burger king adjacent to the property. A multi-purpose sports complex, with a park and indoor/outdoor playground. Multi-generational.... This whole area could use a face lift with more trees and gardens.

I agree with Cory G. It would be nice to see a family fun type center there that had rollerskating, ice skating, bounce houses, games, bowling, etc. This would provide jobs too.

I love Trader Joe's. This would be a perfect location for a Trader Joe's. The Towson Trader Joe's has such a windy and dark entrance road. Parking is limited right in front of the store.

This former Giant Site would be perfect in so many ways for a Trader Joe location. With North Plaza and Perring Park Shopping center and the easy access to 695, it would be easy to stop at Trader Joe's.

Meg, that would be a great expansion site for a Trader Joe's but it is not clear what their lease arrangement is in Towson Circle. You are right, parking is a nightmare there, even on the slowest of days. It would be great to see a Graul's or Klein's go into the space. Despite what others have said, I think the area can support a grocery that has a competitive twist to the Safeway or Shoppers.

I think a fitness center would be a great business but I am not too crazy about a skate rink. There were issues with SkateLand at Loch Raven Village for years.

A Kohl's would be a very interesting choice and could bring back a mid priced to discount tier clothing retailer that we have not seen since Korvette's closed. While I am not a fan of Kohl's personally, I think they would do well in the space and I would be willing to give them another try.

I think that a great idea for that location would be a CVS or a Walgreen Pharmacy and a Trader Joe's. The space is large enough to accommodate 2 businesses. The location is very convenient. Other than the pharmacy depts in Safeway and KMart, there are no pharmacies in this location.

The area is crying out for a pharmacy here!

They could use another Trader Joe's in addition to Towson, I think.
