Walmart Putting Finishing Touches on Nottingham Store
A grand reopening celebration is planned for June 13.
The Nottingham Walmart off White Marsh Boulevard plans to show off its renovated space during its grand reopening Wednesday morning, company officials announced.
The Walmart at 8118 Perry Hills Ct. has become a Super Walmart. It now offers a wider selection of groceries, a bakery, a deli, meat and dairy products and fresh produce. It also includes expanded merchandise departments, a pharmacy, a vision center, digital photo processing center and Walmart Connect Center, featuring cell phone products. And don't forget the McDonald’s and Da-Vi Nails.
The reopening marks the end of more than a year of changes at the store. Black Friday 2011 marked one of the few breaks from construction.
The 149,500-square-foot store gained an additional 24,950 square feet. It will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, according to the announcement.
The celebration, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on June 12 will feature Perry Hall High School's Steel Drum Band, public officials and giveaways, according to company officials. Community members are encouraged to attend.
The Rosedale Walmart at 6420 Petrie Way plans to celebrate its renovation Wednesday morning, as well. About 170 jobs were created by the expansions of both stores. See Essex-Middle River Patch for details.
Do you plan to visit the renovated Nottingham Walmart? What types of items do you turn to Walmart for? Tell us in the comments.

Yes, will definitely shop there as long as they have good prices and keep the store clean.

What a dung heap. It's a pasture for grazing people.

I go to Walmart once every few months just to remind myself why I don't go there more often.

They should fix the stupid driveway and parking lot. It's pretty much impossible to drive in and out of it.

It almost looks like I was insulting the previous poster with my lipstick comment. To clarify, I was referring to the Walmart remodel.

OT - nobody should have taken it that way - we are all passionate about making Perry Hall better - that is what we all care about - we just have different opinions how to get there!

Jobs, yep. But, how does Walmart treat it's employees? Horribly!!

Do you work for Walmart, Rose? How do you know how they treat their employees? Apparently, the employees must not think so because they continue to work there. Besides, the corporation is not in business to employ people. It is in business to create wealth for the stockholders. If people get employed in the process of making a profit, then so be it. No one is forcing anyone to apply for a job at Walmart.

I agree with DS. I don't like people assuming that I own multiple expensive TV's (don't), have a new car (both of our cars are over 10 years old), expensive cell phone (I have the one you get cheap with an upgrade and no data plan). You get the picture - some of us, probably many of us, live on very tight budgets and if I can get more groceries to feed my family at Wal Mart than at the Giant, then I have to do that. The cost of living continues to go up, but my paycheck has been the same for three years. And we have a governor who thinks a half gallon of milk costs $1.58 - pathetic!

...then I'm not much different then you, VWK, from what you are saying. But, when you see clinically obese people buying excessive amounts of food for cheap, is it necessary? And no, I'm not saying you are obese or it applies to everyone.
