Your daughter could help bring American Girl dolls to life, strut her stuff on the runway and help out kids struggling with cancer.
Between noon and 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, at 8200 Perry Hall Blvd. in the lower level, center court, White Marsh Mall plans to host a casting call for the 2nd Annual American Girl Fashion Show.
Girls chosen during the model search will appear in the fashion show wearing historical and contemporary styles inspired by the American Girl dolls and stories. Girls must be between 5 and 12 years old and sizes 6x or 10.
The show is scheduled March 23-24 at the Baltimore Hippodrome Theatre. All proceeds from ticket sales, sponsorships, auctions and raffles, will benefit the University of Maryland’s Children Hospital and The Cool Kids Campaign, a foundation which assists young people struggling with cancer and their families.
Last year, nearly 600 girls auditioned at White Marsh Mall, Towson Town Center and the Mall at Columbia, according to Meghan Scalea, a University of Maryland Medical System spokeswoman.
Scalea is emceeing this year's White Marsh casting call. "I'll be introducing each girl as she takes her turn on the runway and chats briefly with me into a microphone. Their responses are so precious!" she wrote in an email.
Mall marketing manager Jessica Benson also said she's looking forward to hosting the model hopefuls.
"It’s wonderful to see how excited these young girls are to audition, but the real reward is in knowing how much good is being done for other children who are either battling or have beaten cancer. Hosting this event is an honor," Benson said.

Patti - This is a kids fashion show not a runway shoot. All kinds of girls will get turned now. That is a part of life. My daughter audiotned last year, and luckily she made it. However, I did explain to her that she may not get chosen. Life is full of trials and tribulations, its reality. Our children are going to have to accept being turned away at some point in their lives.

The flyer in the mall states ages 5-12, is it really ages 5-12 or only girls that wear sizes 6x and 10?

Eleanor...My daughter is my child, not a trophy. She is beautiful, fun, energetic and full of life. She should be afforded every opportunity and experience that life has to offer. What she gains from these experiences will be lessons that will mold her into the woman she will one day become. She had an absolute blast doing the show last year and it was for a very good cause
