Sporting the tagline "Wild About Overlea" and the web address for the community association (OverleaRocks.org), the mural on Belair Road between St. Micheal the Archangel Church and Kaye's Pharmacy looks to be complete.
An unveiling event has been set for 2 p.m. on Sept. 15 in the parking lot of the nearby Maryland Natural History Society, just across the street.
The mural, painted by Baltimore muralist Whitney Frazier and a group of community volunteers, is the brainchild of Overlea Community Association vice president Doris Poling.
Poling, who began planning to beautify the area through art in 2011, said that the "Wild" mural is the first of three planned for the area.
Volunteers began painting the mural on July 17, and as of Aug. 8, it looks as though the final brush strokes have been made.
