Ask anyone at a high school if they want to be on television, and you'll get anything from a bashful "nooooo, not really" to "Of course, I wanna be on TV, who wouldn't?" type of response. On Monday, there will be a television station crew coming to my high school to film a few spots of the Steel Drum Band playing teasers for their huge 7-school Panorama on Friday, May 4, 2012. The thing is. . . the kids have to be at school ready to perform and be on task at 5:30 a.m.
I remember the last time I had to get a group of kids up and over to the television studios on the west side of town by 4:45. You'd think they would complain, moan and groan, and for all I know they were doing just that on the ride over to the studios. But as far as while they were there and anticipating getting there, they were so excited! "We're gonna be on TV!" "Ms. Lexa, do you think people will see us on TV?" "Ms. Lexa, how will people know we're on TV?" "If I get there at 4:30, will that be OK?" "Do you want me to stop and get you coffee, Ms. Lexa? It's going to be really early for you!"
The Parkville HS Steel Drum Band will be featured on Fox 45 Morning News at 6:10, 7:10, 8:10 and 9:10. They are truly excited about being up that early in the morning. Please check them out, and if you end up knowing any of them, tell them you saw them! They are a truly awesome bunch of kids, who, if anything, are involved in too MANY school activities at Parkville, but for now, we are focusing on their music and their upcoming concert on Friday night at 7:00 in the gym. We are looking forward to seeing YOU, the Parkville Community come out and support not only Parkville High School's Steel Drum Band, but also Perry Hall High School, Catonsville High School, Sparrows Point High School, Calvert Hall High School, Old Mill High School, General John Stricker Middle School, Hereford Middle School, and Stoneleigh Elementary School. Six of the seven schools are from Baltimore County, Old Mill is an Anne Arundel County school! Come out and support our students. They will love seeing you!
If you have any questions, please leave them in the comments, and I'll be sure to look for them and answer them!
