When the citizens of Carney-Cub Hill-Parkville worked with Dennis Wertz from the Baltimore County Office of Planning for years, we were never sure the plan would be adopted. We were pleasantly surprised when the three county councilmen, Joe Bartenfelder, Vince Gardina and Bryan McIntire adopted it.

Ruth and Ernie Baisden, via the Greater Parkville Community Council, have always been champions in helping the Harford Road corridor communities fight for quality of life improvements and the Carney-Cub Hill-Parkville Community is a great example of their fine work.

It was during the years working on the community plan that I learned about panhandle lots and how they can increase density by allowing two houses to be built on on lot, one behind the other. The panhandle driveways are long and must be maintained by the home owners on the back lot. They are really not very attractive.

I am so grateful to Councilman David Marks for taking the lead on the legislation to ban panhandle lots in Carney. I am also very grateful that Councilwoman Bevins and Councilman Todd Huff co-sponsored the legislation with Marks.
