Fog, Adopt Bubba, 'Stroke Smarts,' Boys LAX Deadline Extended

Here's information to get your day in Parkville-Overlea started.

1. The Weather: Be careful on the drive in to work today because the National Weather Service is calling for areas of dense fog before 10 a.m. The day will start out cloudy before coming mostly sunny later, with a high of about 86 degrees. Winds will be light and variable.

2. From history.com's This Day in History: "A collision between two trains in northern India kills 358 people on this day in 1995. It was the worst train accident in the country's history, eclipsing a deadly 1981 accident. Both of the killer crashes involved cows. Due to the special significance of the cow in the Hindu religion, the animals are permitted to roam freely throughout India; occasionally, this can cause serious problems. The rail disaster on this day in 1995 at Firozabad was partially caused by a cow, but was also a result of problems with India's rail system."

3. Bubba is available for adoption at the Baltimore County Animal Shelter in Baldwin.

4. "Stroke Smarts," a free hour-long session for seniors, will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Overlea-Fullerton Senior Center, 4314 Fullerton Ave.

5. The deadline for Overlea-Fullerton boys fall lacrosse has been extended—tomorrow (Wednesday, Aug. 21) is the final day to sign up.
