Dating and the Single Parent: The Problematic Ex

People rarely miss something until it's gone. This is the unfortunate reality of people who have a problematic ex. Here are a few tips on how to deal with this.

Have you ever noticed that people don’t miss you until you’re gone? Interesting isn’t it?  Let’s assume that you have an ex who you were completely happy to get out of your life; he or she was completely immature, menacing and just enjoyed being a pest.

Let’s further assume that this individual liked to stir up pots of drama for you.  Why? Because they have nothing else better to do with their time and they are crazy! Actually, it’s because they are not happy with themselves and since misery loves company, they just can’t stand to see that you have moved on and are completely happy without them.

What can you do?

Well, you can ignore them or feed into their nonsense. Those are the choices.

Too many times people feed into the nonsense of an ex which can inevitably lead to stress. There's no need to put up with unnecessary drama from a person who lacks self-control and common sense. At the end of the day, you have your child to focus on, there is no need to even acknowledge anything that this problematic ex tries to provoke. Anyone who would waste time to provoke you whether over the phone, online or anywhere else is just showing you how pathetic they are and that they have nothing productive to do with their time than to harass you.

Focus on the positive aspects of life and be glad that you got them out of your life.  These types are “broke-control freaks” – their life is out of control and so they’d like to control yours. Know that these types of individuals are the most immature of all because they can’t stand the fact that you could see right through their song and dance and refused to put up with it.

Not to mention, you realized that you are worthy of having a relationship with a person who respects you, enjoys your company, and most of all cherishes you and your child. Once you realize this, you can laugh every time they try to pull their stunts secretly knowing that anything they do will never get to you. However, if by chance harassment ensues definitely get a restraining order against them.

Until next time,
