Christian Miele Announces Candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates

Christian Miele has officially announced his candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates. Miele, a Republican, will run in the Eighth Legislative District, which is home to the Parkville, Perry Hall, White Marsh, Rosedale, Overlea, Carney, and Fullerton communities. He currently serves as an alternate delegate on the Baltimore County Republican Central Committee for the Sixth Councilmanic District.

Miele holds B.S. and M.A. degrees from Towson University, and has a professional background in higher education administration. After working in the Division of Student Affairs at his alma mater for four years, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, to pursue a law degree at Emory University School of Law, one of the nation's leading legal institutions. At Emory, Miele was elected president of the Federalist Society for Law and Public Policy Studies, and named editor-in-chief of the Emory Corporate Governance and Accountability Review. He currently works in the chambers of the Honorable Glenn T. Harrell, Jr., senior judge of the Court of Appeals of Maryland, the state's highest court.

According to his website, Miele plans to make life in Maryland more affordable by giving the state a “fiscal makeover.” This plan, he says, “will be achieved through a comprehensive tax-relief package, which includes the full repeal of Maryland’s unpopular ‘Rain Tax’ and a bill to halt the state’s rising gas tax.” The website for the first-time candidate also reveals that he will be focusing on education and support for small businesses in the run-up to the 2014 election.

Miele is a member of Highland Lodge No. 184, A.F. & A.M. (Baltimore, MD); Sigma Pi Fraternity, International; and the Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity. He is engaged to Jessica Minacapelli of Forest Hill, MD.
