A year ago, 13-year-old Michael Truluck was killed when he fell from a moving vehicle on Harford Road.

It's been a year since a Parkville teen was killed when he fell from a vehicle on Harford Road.

Monday night, friends and family of 13-year-old Michael Truluck gathered near to corner of Harford and Parktowne Roads to remember the fallen Parkville Middle School student.

Dawn Miller-Campbell, whose son Matthew was a close friend of Truluck's, organized the event through Facebook.

"I had asked [one of Truluck's friends] to make me a sign. I wanted to put something up at the site because it had been a year yesterday," Miller-Campbell said. "We held a candlelight vigil, just spread from there. I just invited the 40 some kids I knew from the carwash events."

In total, Miller-Campbell said that between 75 and 100 people turned out, including Mike Truluck's father, sisters, uncles and aunts.

Mike Truluck's sister, Alex Keys, sang the Oasis song "Wonderwall," one of Mike's favorites, Miller-Campell said.

Mike Truluck was killed on Feb. 18, 2012 after he fell from a vehicle near the AutoZone on Harford Road. At the time, area news outlets reported that Truluck's mother said the boy had consumed the alcoholic beverage Four Loko, which made him "sick to his stomach".

After Truluck's death, friends and family held several fundraisers to help pay for a memorial for the boy. Miller-Campbell said those events were a success and that a bench memorial headstone would be installed in the next few months.
