Community Groups Participating in National Night Out

The annual event aims to strengthen the connection between police and community groups.

Communities around the Parkville-Overlea area will take a stand against crime Tuesday night as part of the 29th annual National Night Out.

In a release Monday afternoon, Baltimore County Police wrote that three groups in the Parkville-Overlea area are participating in the event, which they called "a great opportunity to stand up and show that you care about safer streets."

The groups participating include:

  • Wolsingham Citizens on Patrol, who will host a community picnic in the field at the corner of Kintore and Wolsingham Drives with Officer Jason Goorevitz, Parkville Precinct's Community Outreach Officer from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
  • Stillmeadow Citizens on Patrol, who will host a community picnic in a common area at the corner of Stillmeadow Drive and Coatsbridge Court with Officer Jason Goorevitz from 7-9 p.m.
  • Linover Improvement Association, who will host a community gathering at Linover Park (Terrace Drive and Meridy Avenue) with Officer Shawn Haven, White Marsh Precinct's Community Outreach Officer from 6-9 p.m.

In addition, the Ridgeleigh Citizens on Patrol and Ridgeleigh Community Association announced in an email on Monday that they would participate by hosting a community gathering at Ridgeleigh Community Park (1770 White Oak Avenue) from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

"Join us as we give crime and drugs a going away party," the email read.

If you live in a neighborhood where there isn't a National Night Out event schedules, the police department suggests that you put a blue light on your porch and turn it on from 6-11 p.m. as a way to show your support.
