A staggering half-ton of garbage was pulled out of streams that feed Jennifer Branch and ultimately the Gunpowder River during last year's Better Waterways Fall Cleanup.
The Jennifer Branch Committee, a sub-group of the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy's Jennifer Branch Project, is again looking for volunteers to assist with the Nov. 17 stream clean-ups taking place in Parkville, Carney, Cub Hill and Perry Hall.
"We're trying to get people to adopt a stream in the area and clean it up," Lancaster said. "There’s been a focus on Jennifer Branch—right now there’s a focus because there’s a restoration program for it."
Lancaster could not provide specifics as to where volunteers would meet next Saturday but said they would be assigned to areas most convenient for them.
"[Volunteers should] dress for pulling trash from the area—it could be anywhere form picking up trash on the banks to...some people might be going into the water and pulling out tires," she said.
If you're interested in volunteering for the cleanup, between 10 a.m. and noon on Nov. 17, contact Deb Lancaster either by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 410-852-4723.
