Songs of Insects Walk through Overlea

Who's singing in your neighborhood?

Join USGS entomologist Sam Droege for a Songs of Insects walk around Overlea.  We’ll be listening to insect songs and trying to catch a glimpse of the singers: katydids and crickets.

Sponsored by the Natural History Society of Maryland. Look for the sign on the side of the big white building (aka former Chesley Place).

This walk will help you get ready to participate in Cricket Crawl 2012—an evening sound census of late summer insects on August 24.  As we walk we’ll be focusing on the eight target species of the Crawl. To preview and listen to those eight, and to learn about the Crawl itself, visit http://tinyurl.com/7y5trym.
