Peaches! Corn! Tomatoes! Farm Fresh Produce In Overlea

When it comes to fresh produce, Parkville has George's Farm Market and Carney has Weber's Cider Mill Farm but in Overlea, there hasn't been a source.

Until now.

Beginning last Wednesday and running every Wednesday through October, Anne Arundel County's Back 40 Farm will be selling produce from 6-8 p.m. in the parking lot of A-1 Transmissions, 7100 Belair Road, according to an email from Overlea Community Association's Doris Poling.

"The first week the Back 40 farm came to the Overlea community was a big success. Neighbors walked over to the produce stand and many driving by saw the activity, stopped and shopped," Poling wrote.

Back 40 is offering items like corn, tomatoes, squash, zucchini, cucumbers, string beans, peaches and cantaloupes, the email states.

"The corn and tomatoes are excellent. Peaches will get a test with my ice cream tonight," wrote Overlea resident Dennis Robinson Sr., on the Overlea Community Facebook page.

"The Overlea Community is very excited to have farm fresh produce every week this summer, and is looking forward to anyone interested in this making it a regular stop on Wednesdays," wrote Overlea Community Association president Ernie Mudd.
