Grab and Go Kids Planner: Family-Centered Fun this Week

We've found kid-friendly activities for family and friends, Mother's Day dining and events, and a Cinco de Mayo dinner.

Keep your kids moving this week with a few of our events and activities listed below. So many fun things going on makes it impossible for your little ones to get bored.

Cinco de Mayo!

Celebrate this day with an homage to Mexico—have dinner with your kids at Don Pablo's on the Avenue in White Marsh. Very kid-friendly, with a laid-back atmosphere, Don's is a great way to celebrate a festive Cinco de Mayo. There are specials for kids and adults and one of the best margaritas in town.

First First Thursday Concert
of the Year
Grab the kids and some lawn chairs and head to Mt. Vernon for this monthly concert sponsored in part by WTMD. Bring your own food (but no alcohol) to this free concert at the park next to the Washington Monument. Food and drink are also available from vendors.

Three-Day Carnival
Enjoy the Spring Fling Carnival on May 5 and 6 from 5-10 p.m., and May 7 from noon-10 p.m. Ride bracelets/ticket strips will be available for specific times. There will be activities, food and drink, rides, games, flowers, and much more to do at  St. John Catholic Church. Call 410-592-6206 or see the website for more information.

First Friday Movie Night

Join movie lovers at Marshy Point every first Friday of the month for family-friendly movies. The movie is free and snacks are available at the Marshy Point Nature Center this Friday!

Baby and Child Expo
A fun day for the whole family with goods and services, entertainment, demonstrations, arts and crafts, music, and a lot more! Located at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in the Main Exhibition Hall from 11 a.m.- 5 p.m. Call 443-968-0960 for more information.

Mother's Day Craft and Tea
Take your mini-me to the Baltimore Museum of Industry to celebrate Mother's Day this year. Work side by side on a scrapbooking project or create a frame, then stay to have "tea" with him or her. From 1- 3 p.m., and for ages 3- up.  Reservations are required. Call 410-727-4808, and visit the website for more information.

Farmers Market

Sundays 8 a.m. to noon
At the intersection of Holliday and Saratoga streets under the Jones Falls Expressway, Sunday morning offers the freshest fruits and vegetables, meats and seafood Maryland has to offer. With fantastic prepared foods available as well, this is a great place to teach kids about buying fresh, local ingredients. Get there early, as vendors often sell out before closing!

Mother's Day Brunch
The Gunpowder Lodge in Kingsville offers a brunch fit for a queen, but in a kid-friendly, low-key and relaxed environment. Bloody Marys and mimosas are included on the buffet, along with menu items like frittatas, crab hash, Belgian waffles, chipped beef, Cajun mahi and rice, omelettes, Eggs Benedict, and the list goes on with so many more choices. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and only $25, $20 if you are not drinking cocktails.
