Grab and Go Kids Planner: Family-Centered Fun This Weekend

Looking for some ideas to usher in the new season of sun with the rugrats?

At the Oregon Ridge Nature Center in Cockeysville, the Froggy Frenzy Night Hike is leaping with educational fun. Learn about the noisy frogs who live in the park; catch and indentify these melodious amphibians. From 7 to 9 p.m., children 5 years old and older can join in the fun. From 10 a.m. to noon, Gunpowder Valley Conservancy holds an instructional workshop designed to teach technique and design for rain barrel making. Build your very own barrel for storing rain to be used for various things around your house, and most importantly, conserving our most precious natural resource.

Make creativity a family affair at The Patterson on Eastern Avenue. Open to families and kids of all ages, visitors can tour  galleries and design unique art projects related to the exhibits. Stop in for a short visit or camp out for an entire afternoon exploring collage, drawing or sculpture. From 12- 3 p.m., if the weather's nice, Patterson Park is a nice picnic spot nearby! on Cromwell Bridge Rd. offers weekly family activities this season, and this Sunday, between 3 and 4:30 p.m., big kids and little kids alike can join in the wilderness survival fun.  Learn how to start a campfire and build a shelter.  Then, enjoy the fruits of your labor with a treat cooked over the open fire. 

Designed for kids aged 6 and up, registration is required, so call 410-887-2503 to save your spot. $3 for members and $5 for non-members gets you on the trail.
