Greater Parkville Community Council Meeting Canceled

The group, which was set to meet at Parkville Recreation Center tonight, canceled its last meeting before a two-month hiatus due to extreme heat.

Greater Parkville Community Council President and Patch reader Ruth Baisen posted in the Shout Stream on Parkville-Overlea Patch earlier today that tonight's Greater Parkville Community Council meeting has been canceled.

"Greater Parkville Community Council Meeting has been CANCELED tonight, due to extreme heat and weather conditions," Baisden said in an e-mail to Patch sent shortly afterward.

In the e-mail, Baisden points out that it is Greater Parkville Community Council's policy to cancel meetings whenever schools are closed or close early due to extreme weather conditions, or if the Parkville Recreation Center is closed.

At tonight's meeting, Delegates Joe Boetler, John Cluster and Eric Bromwell were set to give the community group a recap of the legislative session, and likely would have spoken about the recent sale of the Lavender Avenue parking lot.

"One of the delegates has gotten in touch with me already," Baisden said in a phone interview. "We're planning to have them back, even though I know the legislative session starts this fall."

The group does not meet in July or August, so the next meeting will be on September 8, 2011. Baisden said she hopes the state delegation will be able to make it to that meeting.

Although this month's meeting has been canceled, the community cleanup day scheduled for June 18 will still happen, according to Baisden.
