Loch Raven Pavement Repair To Close Lanes, Road

The State Highway Administration begins a project to repair a portion of Loch Raven Boulevard between Joppa and Cromwell Bridge Roads this week.

If you use Loch Raven Boulevard as part of your commute, be aware that starting this week the State Highway Administration is starting a project to repair pavement on the thoroughfare between Joppa and Cromwell Bridge roads.

The $850,000 project will improve the road's quality and is expected to be complete by early fall this year, weather permitting, according to an email from SHA district engineer David Peake.

Traffic patterns will be shifted, lanes closed and flagging operations used in the work zone, the email states. The majority of work is set to be carried out on weeknights and weekends.

"There will be temporary night-time single lane closures on Loch Raven Boulevard Sunday through Thursday between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. the next day," Peake wrote in the email.

Over the weekend crews may close lanes beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, the email states. Lane closures could occur any time Saturday or Sunday.

In addition, interchange ramps with the Beltway may be closed during the construction project, but the SHA will give notice, the email states. Detours will be posted.

"SHA urges area residents and visitors to plan for extra travel time when traveling on Loch Raven Boulevard between Joppa Road and Cromwell Bridge Road, consider alternative routes, and to drive with caution, especially when going in and out of local business driveways," Peake wrote.

Anyone with question about the resurfacing work are asked to contact the SHA's District 4 Office in Hunt Valley at 410-229-2360, toll-free at 1-866-998-0367 or by email: shadistrict4@sha.state.md.us.
