Lost Pet Pigeon Taking Up Residence at Lowe's

Unless it's shopping for power tools, chances are the pigeon is the pet of someone in the neighborhood.

A white pigeon, with bands on its legs, has been strolling through the parking lot at Lowe's Home Improvement on Taylor Avenue for the past several days.

Dining upon lunch scraps from some concerned employees, the pigeon, who is comfortable around humans, does not seem deterred by the management’s efforts to get it to fly away home.

“He can fly, he just hasn’t gone anywhere,” said store manager Jesus Gomez. “We tried to scare him away during the day, and he came back at nighttime.”

Gomez reported that the building’s superintendent had called animal control to pick the bird up, but as of now, the bird is still there.

The pigeon has a yellow band on one leg, and a white band on the other.
