Overlea Celebrates Suffragette Centennial

Members of the Overlea community gathered Saturday to celebrate the 100th anniversary of a march for women's suffrage that passed through the neighborhood on the way from New York to Washington DC.

In case you missed it Saturday morning, Belair Road was closed for a celebration of an important part of Overlea's history.

Back in the winter of 1913, a group of suffragettes passed through the neighborhood on their way from New York to Washington D.C. on a march to try and secure the right for women to vote.

On Saturday, the Overlea Community Association organized an event to commemorate the work those women did.
