Vintage Parkville-Overlea: The More Things Change

Do you know where in the greater Parkville-Overlea area this photo was taken?

If you took this photograph today, a few things would be different: there'd probably be a newer car on the street, and there probably wouldn't be quite so large a crowd gathered outside the building on the right.

And if there were that large a crowd, odds are good that they'd be quite a bit older.

Everything else though—the street, the building on the left and even the one on the right—is still right where it was when this photo was taken in 1939.

Do you know where this photo, which was downloaded from the Baltimore County Public Library Legacy Web photo collection, was taken?

Share your guess, and your memories of Parkville and Overlea history, in the comments.

Parkville Elementary School. I attended in the 50's. Boy wish there was another shot of what Harford Road looked like then (down and up the street from the school). Cool photo!

Or the crowd could be a lot younger, as the Parkville Tots meet there too!

I attended elementary school there in the 50's and now go to the Parkville Senior Center located in the same building. Talk about full circle!
