Folk Music Society Hosts Spring Faire At Cromwell Valley

The event, which includes picnicking, singing, dancing and live music takes place Sunday April 28.

As long as the weather holds, this weekend will present a great opportunity to picnic at a local park and take in some folksy sounds.

The Baltimore Folk Music Society hosts its Spring Faire at Cromwell Valley Park from 12-5 p.m. April 28. Admission is free, but a voluntary $5 donation will benefit the park.

Bring your own picnic and a blanket or some lawn chairs and check out everything from sword dancing and juggling to jamming and dancing; and for those who don't want to pack a lunch, food will also be available for sale.

Parkville's own Pavan Foods will offer vegetarian and vegan Indian cuisine and Baltimore's Sofi's Crepes will have snacks both sweet and savory to offer, according to the Folk Music Society's website.

Musically inclined attendees will have the opportunity to hear Indian ragas performed on guitar, check out Ladino music, take part in Scottish, American, and English Country dancing or a clogging session, listen to Jewish folk and nautical songs, and even join in a Southern-style jam, according to the website.

The fair also presents an opportunity to join in a story circle with professional storytellers who can help hone your skills.

In addition, vendors will be on hand selling crafts, the website states.

A full schedule for the festival is expected to be posted on the Folk Music Society's webpage soon.
