Kelly Cullum, owner of Best Friends Fur Ever, began this event after speaking to a state trooper regarding the funding needs for the K-9 partners. Kelly has held this event annually in hopes to spread the word about the K-9's that protect our State.

"The trooper explained that it was so important for each dog to have a bullet proof vest, but they cost around $300 each,” Cullum said. “A newly trained dog purchase price is between $5,000 and $7,000, and the state has a fixed budget considerably less than that price.” The state does offer a fixed budget however events like the one Kelly holds, help offset the cost dramatically.

Over the past four years, Bless the Best Irish Fest has raised over $5000 with more that 300 guests in attendance. “As we began to plan the event, we decided that beside demonstration, we should add in some other fun and meaningful items,” Cullum said. “So in that first year we added a minister to bless all the dogs that attended.”

“We hope to have more people than last year and raise over $2,000,” Cullum said.
