Rainy Day Kitchen Robots!
Crayons, papers and some imagination in the kitchen...all your children need to make a rainy day friend.
Whether it is a rainy summer day or you have hit the middle of an “I’m Bored!” moment, these fun friends are a cheap, easy and creative way to have a little fun!
1. Collect a few sheets of paper, graph for something different, but any will do.
2. Set out crayons, pencils, markers, etc…(can also use stickers or a glue stick and some paper scraps too, but not necessary)

3. Have your kids take a tour of your kitchen—look for anything that would be fun to trace. Definitely grab the usual cups, saucers, square containers (left-over plastic baby spoons make good arms!). Also look for more unusual shapes like spoon rests, whisks, spatulas, the “mystery stocking stuffer” gadget in the back of the drawer…. :)
4. Put your Imagination Hats on! Spread all of the items out on the table and let your kids create! Using the kitchen goodies, make robots on your paper. Older children can design a story using multiple sheets, adding text to the bottom of the page.

When your scientists and engineers are all finished, have them put on a play using their creations. Or, using more of the tracers, they can design a house for their new friends. (FYI — the house activity is also fun using chalk to create an extra large space on your driveway or sidewalk!)
