He Goes Green by Day and Turns to Blues on the Weekends

 Marc Rosen of 1 Source Office Furniture works to save companies money and preserve natural resources during the day, and at night, plays bass for the blues band, Mojo Ryzan.

“I am proud of my company, and I am proud of the band as well,” Marc said.

1 Source Office Furniture focuses on selling new furniture, but has niche market of offering high quality refurbished office cubicles to local companies.

“It is great because our supplier is local and hires over 100 people in the community,” said Laurie Rosen, I Source Office Furniture’s marketing director and a groupie of Mojo Rozen. “It gives us a chance to offer a high quality product, save customers money, and do good for the environment.”

Marc said selling refurbished cubicles is “a good green thing to do!”

Doing good is in tune with his band members as well.

“We play for the Patriot Guard and autism awareness events because they are good causes,” he said. “The band members are all on board. All of us have been through difficult things, and it feels good to give back. The music makes you feel good and so does giving.”

Drummer Fred Germano spends his work days at Notre Dame Preparatory school, guitarist and singer Michael Messmer works at Sheppard Pratt Health Systems, and Carl Rozzetti plays the harmonica professionally.

“We are partners,” Marc said. “We practice every week whether we play or not. The main thing is we have fun and give back to others.”

Marc picked up the bass guitar after buying his son lessons.

“I love it,” he said. “I practice about two or three hours a day. For me playing the guitar is the difference between living in an apartment and living in a house. When you have a house, you spend your weekends working on your house. A guitar gives me something to work on and strive for.”

Marc’s favorite gigs are all about creating memories.

“I like to play live,” he said. “Interacting with people is so much fun.  People want to get up and move around and shake their booty. We facilitate that.

“I love playing the blues, because blues has a groove,” he added.

When it comes to office spaces, Marc can rattle off coffee table numbers and know exactly what is needed to function well – all within the customer’s budget. By the end of the day, he’s ready to pick up the bass, learn a new song by ear, and just relax.

Playing for an event and giving back to the community – that is GOOD business!
