Auburn Seeing Green: Title Means $200K Payout from Under Armour

The Southeastern Conference powerhouse has a $27 million contract with Under Armour that pays the school for wins, titles and bowl appearances, among other things.

Baltimore-based athletic gear company Under Armour will pay Auburn University $200,000 if the school’s football team wins the BCS National Championship, reports the Baltimore Business Journal.

The Auburn Tigers play in the national championship game Jan. 6 against Florida State.

A Tiger win would bring the $200,000 payoff from Under Armour, on top of $120,000 the activewear company must already pay Auburn this year for its football successes, per a contract between the entities, says the Business Journal.

Auburn also stands to collect money from Under Armour, according to the Business Journal, for appearing in the BCS Bowl game, winning the Southeastern Conference championship, and for each regular season win, among other rewards.

Under Armour’s seven-year contract with the Alabama school is valued at more than $27 million and expires in 2016, the Business Journal says.
