Carney Village Shopping Center To Get Facelift

A project to renovate the facade of the shopping center will begin in March of this year.

One of the oldest shopping centers in northeastern Baltimore County is set to get a facelift this year.

Carney Village Shopping Center, located at the corner of Harford and Joppa roads, will be the beneficiary of a $2 million project to install new roofing, signage and other features, according to an email from Fifth District Councilman David Marks.

Marks wrote that Continental Realty, the company that manages the shopping center, expects the project to begin in March and conclude by October of this year.

A rendering of the shopping center improvements is attached to this article.

"I am happy that this shopping center in the heart of the Carney community will undergo an extensive renovation," Marks wrote in an email.  "The improvements should enhance this retail area and the entire community."

In 2012, nearby Parkville Shopping Center—managed by Regency Centers—was improved significantly with an entirely new facade, signage and parking lot.

Do you think Carney Village Shopping Center was due for an upgrade? Are you excited to hear it will get one? Tell us in the comments.

I love how the drawing shows the CVS as a tennant. I heard they are leaving once CVS builds another CVS at the wretched Harford/Joppa intersection. I hope this facelift will make the local drivers in the parking lot drive better! Ha Ha!

Well, I guess the picture would have looked pretty bad with a big "For Lease" sign.

I wish I could read the article, but the popup from The Motley Fool won't go away.

I like where it says "Future Tenant" at the store location next to Mars. There is a tenant there now but I guess the developers know that businesses don't stay at that location longer then a few months.

Hikari Sushi was there for several years. Margie's Hallmark for decades before that. If my memory serves correctly, those were the past 2 tenants of the store in question...

"Zoning changes approved Tuesday night appear to pave the way for a new CVS Pharmacy on the corner of Harford and Joppa Roads. The decision, unanimously approved by the Baltimore County Council, allows the retailer to build a new store on the southwest corner of Harford and Joppa Roads—an intersection graded failing by the state." From a Patch Article back in August. So what do you know that I don't?
