Celebrate National Frozen Custard Day at Rita's Thursday

Want free Italian Ice? You may get your reward at Rita's Italian Ice stores on National Frozen Custard Day this Thursday, Aug. 8.

With every purchase on the holiday, you can earn a second punch on your Rita's Rewards mobile card, which rewards customers one free regular Italian ice on the eighth visit. The card can be downloaded through Rita's mobile app, according to a press release.

"Cup or cone? Either way our smooth, creamy old-fashioned frozen custard is sure to make guests happy on National Frozen Custard Day," Laura Lazar, Rita's senior vice president of marketing, says in the press release.

Starting Thursday, you can also enter for a chance to win free custard for a year in its "Oh My Custard" contest, which runs through Aug. 11. More details and rules to be posted on its Facebook page.

As usual, the stores will offer free samples of its many offerings, including its classic italian ice, cream ice, frozen custard, sundaes, gelati, milkshakes and more.

Rita's introduced a new mango-pineapple Italian ice flavor last week, which is available for a limited time at all stores through Aug. 20, according to QSR Magazine. The new flavor came days after Rita's named Michael Lorelli as its new executive chairman of the board and interim chief executive, according to Nation's Restaurant News.
