Giant to Buy Parkville Fresh and Greens

Giant Food is buying the former Superfresh location in Parkville from Fresh & Green's, less than a year after the latter took the store over

Giant, the Baltimore area's largest grocer, announced the deal today with Mrs. Green's Management Corp. to buy the location at 7709 Harford Road in Parkville.

Parkville store manager Denise Clark, who has worked at the store since it was a Superfresh, was excited to share the news on a Friday afternoon.

"I’m excited that there’s still going to be a grocery store in the community and Giant Food certainly has a great reputation for customer service," Clark said.

Clark told Patch that all of the employees at the Parkville Fresh & Greens had been offered a position with Giant.

"In this day and age, that's a good thing," Clark said.

As part of the deal, Giant will also acquire a Fresh & Greens location at in Hampden. Both stores will close for renovations when the deal is complete. A timetable for the changeover was not announced.

“Giant Food is excited about the opportunity to remodel and open two convenient locations for Baltimore-area customers,” Anthony Hucker, president of Giant Food, said in a statement.

“We look forward to making significant improvements to the stores and to offering our unique combination of quality, value and service, which customers have come to expect from Giant for more than seven decades.”
